Former high court judge and Minister of Justice, Herbert Volney, is calling for the decriminalisation of marijuana, saying that the average young person who smokes weed, does the country no harm.
Volney made the call in a Facebook post on Monday morning.

Internat and cable provider Flow has teamed up with current FA Cup holders, Manchester United to bring the FA Cup trophy to Trinidad and Tobago today.
The trophy will arrive in Trinidad this afternoon, where it will be on show at the Flow Sports headquarters and will be showcased at activities for fans over a two-day period.
On January 18th, the trophy will be taken to Barbados, then on to Jamaica from January 19th - 21st and will end the tour of the Caribbean in the Cayman Islands from January 21st to 24th.
Over 30 members of staff will be sent for medical examination today after the highly toxic asbestos material, a known cause of mesothelioma cancer, was discovered at President’s House.
This was revealed by the Office of the President in a media release yesterday, two days after the Urban Development Corporation of T&T Limited (Udecott) alerted President’s House officials that asbestos was found in the vinyl floor tiles within the laundry lining fabrics storage room.
As Uber begin operating in this country from today, it will cost passengers a minimum of TT$32.50 to be transported to any destination.
As promised, Uber released the rates for its service today.
Apart from the minimum fare of TT$32.50, Uber has also released the breakdown of the fare structure:
Base Fare: $20.00
Per minute: $1.20
Per kilometre: $1.40
Booking fare: $2.50
All prices are in Trinidad and Tobago currency.
Not long before her life was brutally snatched away, 16-year old Rachael Ramkissoon had started attending the Brazil Village Seventh-Day Adventist Church with a relative.
“That’s the only place she went,” her distraught aunt, Dionne Nicholas, told the T&T Guardian yesterday.
“Apart from her family, she never associated much. She was always on the computer, studying, or on the bed with her head phones on. She was generally a very quiet person.”
