Opposition Leader: Bring gender policy

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar is calling on the government to move swiftly to table the long-awaited gender policy.

The goal of the draft document, which dates back to 2005, is to promote gender equity, equality, social justice and sustainable development in Trinidad and Tobago.

Persad-Bissessar says what is required now, is strong leadership to address the issues facing women, but also, leadership to deal with the pressing problems facing all citizens, which she claims are soaring crime, a declining economy, increased job losses, an ailing health sector and an education sector that is failing our children.
