Over 106 tickets were issued today during a police exercise. The following is the TTPS press release:
One hundred and six tickets were issued today to motorists for various traffic offences following an anti-crime exercise undertaken by the Northern Division in the Arouca Station District and involving officers from the Licensing Department.
Of the 106 tickets issued 40 were for the unauthorised use of the Priority Bus Route.
The tints on 59 vehicles were also removed.
The exercise, which was spearheaded by ACP Surajdeen Persad and coordinated by Snr. Supt (Ag.), Simboonath Rajkumar, was carried out from 8:00am-12:30pm and involved several stop and searches that resulted in the arrest of 12 persons.
Three persons aged 16,21 and 50 from the Edinburgh, Chaguanas, area were held for being in possession of wild meat outside of the hunting season while nine persons were arrested for narcotic related offences.
In all 75 police officers and 21 licensing officers participated in the anti-crime exercise which also included ASP Beddoe, Insp Norbutt and Sgt. Singh of the Northern Division.
