130 arrested in South-Western Division

130 persons have been arrested for crimes including sexual offences, larceny, robberies, possession of arms, ammunition, narcotics and outstanding warrants during Operation Strike Back exercises in the South Western Division over the last 72 hours.

This latest anti-crime exercise took place between Thursday 27th and Saturday 29th September 2018.

A breakdown of the arrests is as follows: 105 persons were arrested on outstanding warrants while 25 persons were detained in connection with recently reported serious crimes.

Officers also tested 262 persons for suspicion of driving under the influence, with 6 of those persons being charged for failing breathalyzer testing.

A total of 62 fixed notice penalties were issued; 21 for exceeding the speed limit and 41 being ticketed for various traffic offences.

Officers also seized 1 revolver, 2 magazines, 25 rounds of 12 gauge cartridges, 6rounds of .38mm ammunition, 164 grammes of marijuana and 11.4 grammes of cocaine.

The exercise was spearheaded by ACP (Ag.) Jayson Forde, and supervised by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Neville Adams, Supt. Deonarine Basdeo, and Acting ASPs Wayne Abbot, Lincoln Douglas and Rudranath Seecharan and involved officers attached to the South Western Division Criminal Investigations Department, Task Force, Police Stations, Speed Unit, as well as Court and Process Branch and Warrant Officers.
