Sixteen motorists were arrested and charged with driving under the influence following traffic exercises in the Southwestern Division over the weekend, a police statement said.
The first exercise, which took place in the San Fernando district between 11pm on Friday 31st March, 2017 and 5am on Saturday 1st April, 2017, resulted in a total of 65 persons being administered breathalyser tests.
Of those tested, 11 persons were arrested and charged with the offence of driving under the influence.
The exercise was coordinated and supervised by Cpl. Baran and included officers of the San Fernando Traffic Section.
In the other exercise carried out in the Penal District, between the hours of 8pm on Saturday 1st April, 2017 and 2am on Sunday 2nd April, 2017, 30 motorists were administered breathalyser tests, of which five persons failed.
The exercise was supervised by Sgt. Gosine and included members of the DUI Task Force.
