The Chaguanas Borough Corporation has suspended home 20 workers that were hired on March 19 by the last CEO of the CBC.
One of the workers said that the suspension takes effect from Friday April 26.
T]he suspension comes after the council of the CBC demanded a report into the procedure for hiring these workers.
Councillors protested on March 19 demanding transparency into the hiring of the 20 workers stating that the council's committee to deal with employment issues was not consulted.
One of the affected workers, a 38-year-old female of Longdenville said she was advised not to accept and sign for the suspension letter by her union the NUGFW
Chaguanas Mayor Gopaul Boodhan said he is yet to receive any official communication on this matter.
