$200,000 bail for Chaguanas man on gun & ammo charges

A Chaguanas man has appeared before a Siparia Magistrate today, charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition, after being arrested by officers of the South Western Division Task Force (SWDTF).

Travis Sinanan, 35, an Operating Supervisor for Paramount Transport Ltd., of Palmiste Village, Chaguanas, appeared before Magistrate Margaret Alert in the Siparia 1st Magistrates’ Court, on Monday 11th June, 2018, to answer the charges.

Sinanan was granted $200,000 bail with surety and the matter was postponed to Friday 8th July, 2018.

At around 10:00pm on Friday 8th June, 2018, officers intercepted a Paramount Transport van being driven by Sinanan at St. Mary’s Junction, South Oropouche.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and officers allegedly found a Pietro Berretta Gardone pistol along with 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition in the console of the vehicle.

Sinanan was arrested in connection with the find and charged by PC Brian Cummings, of the SWDTF.
