26-year-old man appears in court for Chaguanas murder

A 26-year-old man has appeared in court charged with a murder in Chaguanas in September, a statement from the Police Service said.

Randy Francis alias ‘King’, appeared before Chaguanas Magistrate Joanne Connor at the Chaguanas 1st Magistrate’s Court on Monday, charged with the murder of Darian Anthony Cody Williams.

Williams, 21, was socializing with a group of friends outside a bar at the corner of Factory Road and Southern Main Road, Chaguanas, on September 4th, 2016, when he and his friends played peacemakers in an attempt to diffuse an altercation.

Williams and his friends were walking away when the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds from an assailant who escaped the scene in a green Nissan Almera.

Francis, a labourer of Construction Avenue, Enterprise, Chaguanas, was also charged for the offences of possession of arms and possession of ammunition.

On Friday 14th October, 2016, Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions George Busby gave instructions to the police to charge Williams with murder.

The charge of murder was laid by Sgt. (Ag.) Randy Ramjag, Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Three.
