A 31-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of 26-year-old Nadia Simms whose body was found in a shallow grave in Santa Flora last week.
Kenny Ramroop appeared before Siparia senior magistrate Armina Deonarinesingh charged with murdering Nadia Simms sometime between January 27th and February 2nd at Field Road at Clyne, San Fernando.
Counsel Charlene Khalloo expressed concern for his safety in prison, as she pointed out that he is also a state witness in a capital matter.
She also said he was on medication for a kidney problem.
The magistrate made a note on the remand warrant for the Commissioner of Prisons.
Ramroop was also represented by attorney Roopnarine Rambachan who was retained by his family.
Rambachan asked that relatives be allowed to visit him at the Siparia Police Station.
However, the request was rejected.
The matter was adjourned March 7th.
