Artherly ‘Ratty’ Fraser, a 34-year-old driver, originally from Arouca, but residing in Canaan, was charged with two counts of rape, two counts of grievous sexual assault, two counts of kidnapping and two counts of robbery, on Thursday 14th March, 2019.

Fraser was granted the $800,000 bail, when he stood before Magistrate Duane Murray, in the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

The matter has been adjourned to Friday 5th April, 2019.

The charges arose from an incident which allegedly occurred at 1:30 am on Monday 11th March, 2019.

The victims, who were participating in festivities at the weekly ‘Sunday School’ event in Buccoo, had hired a private driver to return to the guest house they were staying at in Black Rock.

While en route to their destination, the driver stopped along Grafton Beach, and proceeded to rape, sexually assault and rob the women of their cellphones, before escaping in his vehicle.

Fraser was subsequently charged by WPC Phillip-Radix, of the Shirvan Road Police Station.
