Avindha Singh successfully defends title

10-year-old Avindha Singh regained his title at the School's Intellectual National Carnival Chutney Soca Monarch Competition with his song, Parents Take Heed.

The youngster defeated his closest competition by 39 points with a whopping total of 443 points.
The Tamana Hindu School student performed in position number eight and also won the people's choice award.
In the secondary schools' category, 16-year-old Paris Coutain won this year's competition with his song, Happy Chutney. 
Performing in third position, the St Joseph Secondary School student wowed the audience with his dance moves and command of the crowd. In an interview, the youngster said he was happy to win but hoped people got the message from his song. 
He also won the award for best lyrical content.

Last year's winner, Mackhaydon Charles, placed second.
