A Brazil man is expected to appear before an Arima Magistrate today, charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition, after being arrested by officers of the Northern Division during an anti-crime exercise in the Arima district.
The exercise, which took place between 9:00pm and 12:00am on Monday 11th June, 2018, was spearheaded by Insp. Roger Joseph and included a party of officers from the Northern Division Special Investigations Unit, Northern Division Task Force East and Arima Crime Patrol.
During the exercise, officers received certain information which led them to a bar located along Devenish Street, Arima, where they conducted a search of a group of patrons.
The search resulted in Alex Hollingsworth, 23, of Talparo Main Road, Brazil, being arrested for possession of a silver and brown Taurus revolver loaded with two rounds of .38mm ammunition.
Hollingsworth was then conveyed to the Arima Police Station, where he was charged by PC Joel Kerr, of the Arima Criminal Investigations Department, for the offences.
