Veteran calypsonian Calypso Rose will be conferred with her Diplomatic Passport on Tuesday, the Ministry of Community Development, Culture and the Arts says.
The ministry today issued an invitation to members of the media, to attend a brief ceremony for the presentation of the Diplomatic Passport to Calypso Rose, whose real name is Linda Mc Cartha Sandy-Lewis.
In March 2017, the Cabinet of Trinidad and Tobago agreed that Calypso Rose be afforded the privilege of a Diplomatic Passport, and that one aircraft in the Caribbean Airlines Fleet be named in her honour.
In July 2017, the later commitment was upheld with a Caribbean Airlines Boeing 737 commissioned with her name.
This recognition was in honour of her achievement of being the first soca artist to attain the prestigious French Music Award the “Album de Musique de Monde” and for her contributions to the development of calypso and culture.
Minister of Community Development, Culture and the Arts, Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly will make the presentation to Calypso Rose through her Trinidad and Tobago Manager, Lorraine O’Connor and Calypso Rose will join in via skype.
