Investigating officers are yet to establish a motive in the killing of a man from Carapichaima, who was found with his throat slit.
The man, who was identified as Nicholas Murphy, 43, also bore multiple stab wounds to the head.
Murphy lived at Roopsingh Road off Waterloo Road.
According to a police report, at about 1.45 pm on Thursday, a couple had just arrived at their home at Cassava Lane when they noticed Murphy slumped on the ground bleeding from the head and neck.
He was taken to the Couva District Hospital where he later died.
Sgt Ramoutar and other officers from Couva CID as well as Cpl Bridgemohan from the Homicide Investigations Bureau (Region III) visited the scene.
