A 32-year-old Carenage man is expected to appear before the Tunapuna Magistrates’ Court later this week, after being arrested for possession of a firearm and ammunition, by Northern Division Task Force (NDTF) officers.
The suspect was arrested during an anti-crime exercise in the Piarco on November 26th.
According to police reports during the exercise, supervised by Sgt. Pitt, officers observed a man walking along Oropune Boulevard, Piarco.
Upon noticing the officers, the man began running and threw an object resembling a firearm into some nearby bushes.
Officers gave chase and apprehended the suspect a short distance away.
They proceeded to search nearby bushes and discovered one silver revolver loaded with two rounds of .38mm ammunition.
WPC Chevalier, of the NDTF, will be conducting enquiries into the matter.
