A 15-year-old minor is due to appear before the Port of Spain Children’s Court today, after being charged with shooting with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The teenaged boy, of Caroni, was also charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Joan Honore Paul, on Friday 8th March, 2019.
Charges were laid against the teen, after he was held in connection with the murder of 23-year-old Nicholas Janet, which occurred on Thursday 28th February, 2019.
Janet was being driven along Emerald Drive, La Paille Village, Caroni, by a friend, when they were approached by two male suspects armed with guns.
The suspects fired several shots at the victims, which resulted in driver being shot about the body and Janet’s death.
Investigations resulted in the minor being arrested by officers of the Caroni Police Station, on the same date of the incident. WPC Callender-Sinclair, of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region 3, laid the charges.
