Coast Guard bust yields over $300,000 in drugs

The Coast Guard have seized of $300,000 in drugs after intercepting a pirogue.

The following is a statement from the Coast Guard.

"Whilst on routine patrol the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard intercepted a pirogue with 2 persons onboard after a brief chase.

The vessel and its occupants were escorted to Staubles Bay where detailed searches were conducted and two (2) crocus bags containing Forty (40) packets of marijuana, weighing 22.3 kg, with an estimated street value of Three Hundred and One Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars (TT $301,500.00) were recovered.

The men and illegal narcotics were handed over to the Organised Crime Narcotics Firearm Bureau (OCNFB) of the Police Service for further processing."
