Coast Guard warns of false email inviting new recruits

The Trinidad and TobagoCoast Guard is warning of false advertising, inviting people to join the Coast Guard.

A statement from the Coast Guard denies that it circulated any such correspondence.

"With reference to the current email circulating the Internet inviting members of the public between the ages 18-24 years to be recruited for the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard. Please be advised of the following;

1. The Coast Guard has NOT released ANY EMAIL.

2. The Defence Force’s Formations, be it the Regiment, Coast Guard, Air Guard or Defence Force Reserves will NOT advertise for vacancies via an email. Ads will be placed ONLY in the Daily Newspapers and on OUR Official Facebook pages.

3. At this time the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (Coast Guard) is not engaged in recruiting.

Members of the public are advised to wait on Official Newspaper and Facebook advertisements which will give details of recruitment in alphabetical order on specific dates and times for both Trinidad and Tobago.

For your own safety, you are advised to ignore emails sent by persons NOT authorised to do so."
