Coconut vendor shot dead after making wrong-turn in Cunupia

A coconut vendor has been shot dead after apparently making a wrong turn in Cunupia.

Ramesh Ramoutar died at hospital after gunmen opened fire on him and his nephew at Howard Lane.

According to reports, both men went to visit relatives in area.

Ramoutar's 31-year-old nephew Keron Rampersad was driving the vehicle around midnight last night and according to relatives, they got lost and made a wrong turn into a dead-end street.

When the men attempted to reverse, their vehicle was shot at by a group of men.

Ramoutar was shot several times while his nephew, Rampersad, was shot once in the leg.

He drove to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where Ramoutar was pronounced dead.

Rampersad is said to undergoing treatment.

Investigations are ongoing.
