On Thursday 15th March 2018, the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment welcomed its 19th substantive Commanding Officer, Colonel Darnley E Wyke to the helm.
Colonel Wyke assumes Command of the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment, preceded by Brigadier Archillus Phillips, former substantive Commanding Officer of the Regiment, who has since been elevated to Vice Chief of Defence Staff of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force.
The assumption of Command Ceremony took place at 10:30 a.m. at the Regiment Headquarters in Aranguez.
Enlisting into the Regiment on the 17th February 1985 Colonel Wyke received his Presidential Commission as an Officer on 31st May 1985 after graduating from the prestigious Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst in the United Kingdom.
Colonel Wyke has served meritoriously with the Regiment for the past thirty-three (33) years and in this time, has received numerous decorations including the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force Efficiency Decoration, the Long Service Medal, the General Service Medal for 1990 and the General Service Medal for the 5th Summit of the Americas 2009.
His academic accolades include a myriad of professional military development and staff courses as well as civilian diplomas and certificates, which includes a Masters in Defence Studies from the Royal Military College in Canada as well as a BSc in Management studies from the University of the West Indies.
Colonel Wyke has held several command portfolios including Unit Commanding Officer of both infantry battalions as well as the support and services battalion. He has also served as the Military Liaison Officer to the Ministry of National Security, the Chief Staff Officer to the Chief of Defence Staff, with is last post being the Defence and Military Attaché in Washington DC USA.
Colonel Wyke is happily married to Elizabeth Wyke and they have two children Gabrielle and Jabari. His hobbies include meeting new people, travelling and playing golf.
