Construction begins on new Balisier House

Construction of the new Balisier House - the headquarters of the People's National Movement - kicked off this morning.

A post on PNM political leader and prime minister Dr Keith Rowley's Instagram page, shows Dr Rowley, deputy political leader Rohan Sinanan and general secretary Foster Cummings looking over the plans with the foreman of the project.

The post states that proceeds from the PNM's 10-car raffle go towards the construction of our new party headquarters.

The final draw of the raffle is on Saturday 19th January.

The new building will be constructed on the same grounds at Tranquillity Street, Port-of-Spain, on what is currently the car park.

The sod-turning ceremony took place on August 30, 2018.

Then party chairman Franklin Khan had described the five-storey building, which will include underground parking, as a "self-sustaining" entity.

The new structure is expected to provide office space for party operations but will also feature rental spaces which will enable the PNM to generate a steady cash flow stream for the party's longevity.

The current Balisier House is to be refurbished and used as a museum and archive library.
