The Congress of the People is seeking members of the party to represent the COP in the upcoming Local Government Elections.

The party is yet to decide what districts it will contest in the election.

The following is the COP's statement:

"Following discussions among COP members, the Political Leader of the Congress of the People, Dr. Anirudh Mahabir, has issued a call to All COP members in All Corporations to come forward for consideration as potential candidates in Local Government Elections later this year.

Any member of the COP who wishes to be considered to possibly contest elections to be a Councillor on any Corporation or to be included on the COP’s list of Aldermen is asked to complete and submit an Expression of Interest Form as soon as possible.

The EOI Forms are available on the COP website or from the COP Operations Centre, 281 Caroni Savannah Road, Charlieville. Requests for EOI Forms can also be made by calling 665-6742 or by email to [email protected].

“No deadline has yet been fixed for the submission of these Forms. But, interested persons are asked to do so quickly to facilitate the selection and preparation of candidates.

“The COP will make final decisions on which Districts in which Corporations it will contest once all of the potential candidates are known and based on its analysis of electoral history and its current re-building efforts.” Dr. Mahabir concluded."
