Couple among four killed on weekend

Four peo­ple have been killed fol­low­ing three sep­a­rate in­ci­dents in Diego Mar­tin, Mor­vant and Mar­aval re­spec­tive­ly, which oc­curred with­in a bloody six-hour stretch from Sat­ur­day night in­to yes­ter­day morn­ing.

In the first in­ci­dent, 38-year-old Pe­ter Kurt Car­rera and his girl­friend, 22-year-old Josanne Ra­goo­nanan, were killed at their Toma­to Trace, Diego Mar­tin apart­ment af­ter a man came ask­ing for Car­rera.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, the man came to the area ask­ing for ‘Kurt’ short­ly be­fore 10 pm.

The man ap­proached his rel­a­tives and was di­rect­ed to Car­rera’s apart­ment.

He stormed in­to the apart­ment and shots rang out short­ly af­ter.

The man then fled the scene.

Car­rera’s rel­a­tives came in­to the apart­ment where they found the cou­ple dead.

About a half- an- hour lat­er Ka­reem Gar­cia was gunned down a short dis­tance away from his Nev­er Dirty, Mor­vant home.

Po­lice were told at around 10.30 pm, Ka­reem Gar­cia was stand­ing with a group of peo­ple when a white AD wag­on pulled up along­side them and opened fire.

The group at­tempt­ed to evade the shots but Gar­cia, 27, was hit about the body while Fay-Ann Cordiner was stuck in the low­er back and Michael Ed­wards was shot in his but­tocks.

Gar­cia was tak­en to the Port of Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal where he was pro­nounced dead.

In the third in­ci­dent, 22-year-old Adri­an Grant was fa­tal­ly stabbed in a bar in Mar­aval.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, at around 3 am, Grant, al­so known as ‘Tec’, was seen ar­gu­ing with a woman at the Jep Nest bar.

The ver­bal con­fronta­tion be­came phys­i­cal and Grant was stabbed. The woman fled the scene.

Grant was tak­en to the Port of Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal where he died at around 10 am.

Po­lice said Grant was known to them.

Ear­li­er on Sat­ur­day, a man was struck and killed in a ve­hic­u­lar ac­ci­dent along the Churchill- Roo­sevelt High­way near the Grand Bazaar in­ter­sec­tion.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports at around 7.45 pm, a man was dri­ving west along the high­way when he saw some­thing hit his wind­shield

When he stopped af­ter mak­ing sure it was safe to do so, and when he checked he saw a man of In­di­an de­scent ly­ing dead on the road­way.

Po­lice are seek­ing the pub­lic’s as­sis­tance in iden­ti­fy­ing the man.

He was clad in a che­quered shirt and dark green long pants.

He is be­lieved to be in his 40s.

The man is be­lieved to be the 36th road fa­tal­i­ty for the year.
