Couva couple to appear in court for possession of firearm and ammunition

A Couva couple is expected to appear in court today for possessing a firearm, ammunition, and drugs. The following is a media statement by the TTPS:

A Couva couple is expected to appear before a Couva Magistrate today, charged with possession of firearm, ammunition and possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

RENNIE SIEW, 35, a labourer, of Union Village, Couva, and his wife, NARUBA ROODAL, 27, of the same address, were arrested and charged, after officers of the Central Division Task Force, executed a search warrant at their home, around 5:30pm, on Tuesday 29th August, 2017. 

A search of the house resulted in officers discovering a Glock pistol, a 9mm pistol, and 28 rounds of 9mm ammunition. 

Officers also found 13 packets of high grade marijuana, weighing 13 pounds. The drug has an estimated street value of $58,000. 

The couple was charged by PC Anand Kumar of the Central Division Task Force.
