Decomposing body found in Rio Claro river

Rio Claro po­lice are hop­ing to iden­ti­fy a bad­ly de­com­posed body found in a riv­er on Sun­day.

Ac­cord­ing to a re­port, the body was dis­cov­ered by a gar­den­er around 11.30 am off Dades Trace, Tabaquite Road.

The gar­den­er con­tact­ed the po­lice and a par­ty of of­fi­cers led by In­sp Gar­cia and in­clud­ing PC Ali, PC Wilkin­son and PC Charles re­spond­ed and trekked 100 feet off the road­way.

They no­ticed the body ly­ing on its back in the wa­ter with both feet on the riv­er bank.

It was clad on­ly in grey un­der­wear.

The de­com­po­si­tion was so bad that in­ves­ti­ga­tors could not iden­ti­fy the eth­nic­i­ty, gen­der or de­ter­mine whether there were any marks of vi­o­lence on the body.

Crime scene in­ves­ti­ga­tors scoured the area for ev­i­dence but came out emp­ty-hand­ed.

The body was tak­en to the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre for an au­top­sy.

Of­fi­cers from the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions, Re­gion Two al­so vis­it­ed the scene.
