The Defence Force is confirming that Attorney General Faris Al Rawi and his family were exposed to military demonstrations on situations that they can encounter by virtue of being key public figures.

The Defence Force has issued a statement in light of pictures showing two children, believed to be Al Rawi's daughter and son, holding weapons.

The following is the statement issued Wednesday by Major Al Alexander, the Senior Public Affairs Officer of the Defence Force.

"The Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force can confirm that it traditionally provides close protection to national strategic leaders.

As part of this process, several considerations are taken into account, inclusive of exposing the principal and his/her family to scenarios that may be encountered during the time that the principal is in office.

The Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force can also confirm that the Attorney General and his family have been invited in the past, to one of our bases where they were exposed to some of these scenarios.

For security reasons the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force is unable to go into the details of the type of training that we undertake in this regard."
