Disruptions continue in Central, South as Desalination Plant production not fully restored

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is advising customers in parts of Central and South Trinidad that, further to the last update announcing the recommencement of operation at the Point Lisas Desalination Plant at 12 noon on Saturday July 21st, 2018 that, the Desalination Company of Trinidad and Tobago (Desalcott) (the owner and operator of plant) is still in the process of ramping up production and is currently delivering approximately 25 million gallons daily (mgd) to WASA.

WASA says the latest information from Desalcott indicates that delivery is expected to increase over the coming three to four days, until the contracted flow of 40 mgd is achieved.

In the interim, WASA says it will maintain the mitigating measures introduced from the onset of the disruption of delivery on Tuesday July 17th, 2018.

This includes re-distributing water supplies from the Caroni and Navet Water Treatment Plants in order to supplement the flows from the Desalination Plant.
