Doubles vendor hospitalised after attack by four men

A Sangre Grande doubles vendor is now warded at hospital in a critical condition, after being attacked by four men.

Police said around 5:15 am on Sunday, Avinash Singh was selling doubles at the open shops at the corner of the Cunapo Southern Main Road and Eastern Main Road, Sangre Grande, when four men arrived to purchase doubles.

The men ordered doubles, however, while Singh was attending to other customers.

An argument soon broke out between him and the four men who eventually stormed the man's booth and began beating him.

During the melee, Singh was stabbed with a glass bottle.

Customers who fled the scene called the police.

Singh was placed in an ambulance and taken to the Sangre Grande District Hospital, where he was treated, before being transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.
