Police have seized almost $1.5 million worth of marijuana in Operation Strike Back exercises.
During an exercise along North Oropouche Road in Sangre Grande today, officers conducted searches in a forested area in the district.
They discovered 231 packages of marijuana with an estimated street value of $1.34 million.
According to a statement from the Police Service, the same team of officers from the Eastern Division Task Force, CID and Canine Unit seized a crocus bag containing 34 packets of marijuana with an estimated street value of $154,000.
Seven revolvers, four pistols, several rounds of ammunition and military type camouflage jackets were also discovered.
Two people have been arrested.
Investigations are ongoing.
