Engineering student charged with possession of 42 bullets

A 19-year-old university student is expected to appear before a San Fernando Magistrate today, charged with possession of ammunition.

Ronaldo Wilkes, an engineering student at the Automated Technology College, San Fernando, was arrested by officers of the Traffic and Highway Patrol Branch (THPB), during an anti-crime exercise, in the San Fernando district yesterday.

The exercise, led by Insp. (Ag.) Sampooran Kissoonlal, took place between 5 am and 9 am on Wednesday 16th May, 2018.

Acting on information, officers proceeded to Wilkes’ home along Solomon Street, Vistabella, where they executed a search warrant.

The search resulted in officers discovering 24 rounds of 12 gauge cartridges, 12 rounds of 9mm ammunition and six rounds of .38mm Special ammunition.

He was subsequently arrested and charged by PC Adisa Noel, of the THPB South.
