Prisons Commissioner Gerard Wilson has revealed further details about the jailbreak at the Golden Grove Remand Yard in Arouca and has ordered a full investigation.
Speaking to Guardian Media during a telephone interview shortly after noon, Wilson said, "We understand the men removed a brick and used a hacksaw to cut two iron bars. I don't know where they would have gotten those instruments but we will be looking into that," he said.
Wilson who visited the cell where the men escaped at the South upper wing said he believed the men would have then scaled two perimeter fences and escaped.
