Female police constable shot in Mamoral

Police say suspect has been identified in the shooting and wounding of a woman police constable in the Mamoral Village area last night in circumstances which suggest the incident followed an ongoing dispute with a person known to the victim.

No. 18884 WPC Crystal Ross Abraham, 32, was the front seat passenger of a Toyota Hilux vehicle driven by her husband, which was proceeding along Mamoral Main Road, around 10:30pm, on Tuesday 12th September, 2017, when the incident occurred.

WPC Abraham is said to have observed a man standing on the side of the roadway, before hearing two loud explosions.

She subsequently realised that she had sustained two gunshot wounds; one to her left palm and the other to her upper right shoulder.

The victim was rushed to the Chaguanas Health Facility for treatment and subsequently discharged.

The statement said that Commissioner of Police (Ag.), Harold Phillip and the rank and file of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, are praying for the full recovery of WPC Abraham.

Investigations are underway and an arrest is expected.
