Finance MinisterColm Imbert has had a successful surgery to remove an inflamed gall bladder, a statement from the Ministry of Finance says.
The Ministry issued the following statement this morning.
"The Ministry of Finance wishes to confirm that on Monday December 28, 2015, the Honourable Minister of Finance, Colm Imbert, underwent a medical procedure at the St. Clair Medical Centre, involving removal of an inflamed gall bladder, as a result of gallstones.
The surgery was done using the laparoscopic method which involves four small incisions in the abdomen and is much less invasive than open surgery. The operation went smoothly without any complications and was a success.
The Hon. Minister was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday December 29, 2015 and is recovering well. He will be working from home for the next few days but is already fully functional.
The Hon. Minister of Finance wishes to thank all those who offered prayers and expressions of support during his short period of illness."
Minister Imbert is today acting as Prime Minister in the absence of Dr Keith Rowley who is in Miami.
