Five arrested for possession of drugs, arms, ammunition

Police arrested five persons and seized a quantity of arms, ammunition and narcotics, following an anti-crime exercise in the North Eastern Division, a police statement says.

Between, 3 pm and 8 pm, on Thursday 6th April, 2017, officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force and CID, conducted the exercise in the Sea Lots area.

Several abandoned houses were searched and resulted in the discovery of several packets of compressed marijuana, weighing 8.2 kilogrammes with an estimated street value of $150,000.

Shaquille Hillaire, 23, of Monroe Road, Morvant, was charged in connection with the find, while four other persons were held for being in possession of smaller quantities of marijuana. 

The officers then went to Kingston Avenue, La Canoa, Santa Cruz, where they found five rounds of 5.56 calibre ammunition, in a bushy area. 

Acting on information received, the officers thereafter went to a bushy area at El Socorro Road Extension, San Juan, around 6:00pm, where they found one pistol, a magazine and four rounds of .9mm ammunition. 

No one was arrested in connection with this find.
