Five bandits arrested after robbing Sangre Grande bar

Quick work by officers of the Eastern Division, resulted in five men being arrested and a quantity of stolen items being recovered, minutes after the men allegedly robbed and shot patrons of a bar in Sangre Grande early yesterday morning, police said in a statement.

Officers of the Sangre Grande CID, Task Force and Crime Patrol, also seized a revolver and a quantity of ammunition when they responded to a report of a robbery and shooting at Orinoco Bar, Eastern Main Road, Sangre Grande, around 1:00am, on Wednesday 8th November, 2017.

Following the report, officers immediately began searching for the vehicle in which the bandits escaped.

Some seventeen minutes later, a white AD wagon, with five male occupants was intercepted and searched.

The search resulted in one revolver, along with three rounds of .38mm ammunition, being found on the floor of the vehicle.

The items; two cellular phones and a quantity of cash, which were stolen during the robbery were also found in the vehicle.

The five male suspects; a 30-year-old, a 17-year-old, a 25-year-old and a 42-year-old, all of Sangre Grande, a 46-year-old of Ste. Madeleine, were arrested in connection with the incident and the finds, and are expected to be charged with robbery with aggravation, shooting with intent and possession of firearm and ammunition.
