A Venezuelan woman and her Trinidadian husband were each granted $150,000 bail on Monday on arms and ammunition charges.
Shannon Lee Mohammed and Yordias del Carmen Ramos Pagoda who were arrested on Saturday appeared before San Fernando Second Court Magistrate Anselm Leander.
The police intercepted their vehicle along Diamond Village, San Fernando, after receiving information. Charging officer, PC Matloo searched the van and allegedly found a shotgun and three 12 gauge cartridges on the floor of the back seat.
They were both charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition. The matter was adjourned to August 8.
In the same court, Leela Sahadeo, her daughter Cyan Sahadeo and son Michael Miguel appeared in court charged with possession of a firearm, ammunition and marijuana.
They were arrested on Saturday after PC Mahabir and other officers, executed a search warrant at their apartment at Lady Hailes Ave, San Fernando.
It is alleged that on top a television stand in the living room the police found a Beretta pistol with a magazine containing 11 rounds of ammunition, as well as 30.4 grammes of marijuana.
The magistrate granted both women $175,000 bail and remanded Miguel into custody for tracing. The police claimed Miguel refused to give his fingerprints. The matter was adjourned to next month.
