A Talparo man was held in connection with a robbery at a mini-mart last week in the Longdenville area.
He is due to appear before a Chaguanas Magistrate charged with robbery with aggravation, against two victims, malicious damage and possession of ammunition.
Serdon Atwell, 34, of Todds Road, Talparo, was charged after being arrested by officers of the Central Division Task Force at his home, following a robbery and police-involved shooting on Friday 12th October, 2018.
The victims, a 45-year-old salesman and a 49-year-old security guard were in the vicinity of a mini-mart in Longdenville, Chaguanas, when two men entered and announced a robbery.
The suspects relieved the salesman of a quantity of cash and the keys for a Nissan Navarra motor vehicle, while the security guard was relieved of one Ruger pistol with two magazines containing 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition and cellular phone.
The men then fled the scene in the vehicle which contained a large quantity of cigarettes, valued at $300,000.
Acting on intelligence received, officers visited a house on Queva Clara Road, Todds Road, Talparo, where four male suspects were encountered.
During a subsequent police-involved shooting with the suspects, three of the suspects were injured and taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility, where they all succumbed to their injuries.
The fourth suspect who was found in the house was arrested.
A search of the house resulted in six rounds of ammunition being discovered.
Atwell was charged by PC Maraj, of the Longdenville Police Post, on Tuesday 16th October, 2018, with two counts of robbery with aggravation against the two victims and one count of malicious damage of the sales vehicle.
Cpl Singh, of the Cumuto Police Station, laid the charge of possession of ammunition against the accused on Wednesday 17th October, 2018.
