Fyzabad man appears in court charged with murder

Quanel Joseph a 25-year-old man from Pepper Village Fyzabad has appeared before the Siparia Magistrates’ Court, after being charged with the murder of Kerron Cooper. 

Joseph aka ‘Kirston Quammie’ and ‘Kriston Samuel’, of Pepper Village, Fyzabad, was remanded into custody when he stood before Magistrate Margaret Alert, yesterday.

According to police reports, the victim, a 24-year-old of Easy Street, Fyzabad, was liming with friends at a bar on the Guapo Main Road, Fyzabad, around 5:45 pm on October 8th.

 Several loud explosions were heard, and upon on checking, the deceased was observed lying on the ground with apparent gunshot wounds.

 He was taken to Siparia Health Facility where he died while undergoing treatment.

 Joseph was arrested on December 5th by officers attached to the Mon Repos Police Station. 

Charges were laid, following advice from the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Joan Honore Paul. 

Investigations were supervised by Insp. (Ag.) Corrie, while WPC Bickram laid the charge, both officers are attached to Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region 3. 

The matter has been adjourned to Wednesday 9th January 2019.
