The garbage truck operator who dumped garbage in the roadway during protest action on Monday, is to be charged by police.
Police made the declaration in a tweet on Thusday saying: "The operator of a sanitation truck is due to be charged on 18.02.22 in relation to the dumping of garbage on the street during protest action by residents in East Port on Monday last."
The matter was under investigation by police and the Port-of-Spain City Corporation after the man claimed that he was ordered at gunpoint to dump the garbage.
Police did not give any further detail on what the investigations revealed, that led to the decision to charge the operator.
After the garbage was dumped in the road, video footage showed one resident attempting to set fire to it.
Police are reviewing video footage in a bid to charge residents involved in the protest.
