"Grenade" found behind Point Fortin RC School

Police are investigating the discovery of a what appears to be a hand grenade that has forced the evacuation of the Point Fortin RC School in Techier Village , Point Fortin. The object was found in a drain behind the school, by CEPEP workers. 

The Police Service reported the following on the matter:

"An object resembling that of a ‘hand grenade’ was discovered by a sanitation worker employed with the Point Fortin Borough Corporation while cutting grass along the Techier Link Road, Point Fortin, at around 7:00am today Tuesday 7th June, 2016.

Point Fortin Police were notified and officers from the Explosive Detection and Disposal Unit of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service were called in and took possession of the object.

The object is to be analysed by ammunition specialists attached to the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force."
