Grieving father demands justice

The fa­ther of a mur­der vic­tim is ap­peal­ing to the po­lice to work hard­er from get il­le­gal guns off the streets.

An­tho­ny Ra­jku­mar of Cor­nelius Street in Tu­na­puna, ex­pressed de­spair at crime sit­u­a­tion in the coun­try af­ter his son, An­ton “Block­er” Slater, 31, was gunned down on Wednes­day night.

“I watch shows and I see how many guns they find­ing and some­times they hold­ing peo­ple but it has too many guns on the streets in the hands of young peo­ple and that needs to be stopped,” he said.

“The po­lice need to work hard­er.”

Short­ly be­fore 10 pm, Slater was shot while stand­ing in the yard of his grand­moth­er’s house.

Ra­jku­mar said he was at his house a short dis­tance away when he heard rapid gun­fire.

“It was re­al shots ring out and af­ter it stopped I went out­side and saw his moth­er bawl­ing. When I do look is my son dead. I lost an in­no­cent son and not I say­ing that—is the en­tire vil­lage can vouch for my son and his broth­er...good boys,” Ra­jku­mar said.
