Griffith meets with senior police executives after taking oath

Gary Griffith today officially took the Oath/Affirmation of Office and Secrecy, as Commissioner of Police, of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS).

The oath was administered at 10:35 am, Friday 17th August, 2018, by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Ag.), Administration, Erla Christopher, and witnessed by Permanent Secretary, Ministry of National Security, Vel Lewis, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Ag.) Crime and Support, Harold Phillip and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Ag.), Operations, Deodat Dulalchan, in the Commissioner’s Office, 6th Floor, Police Administration Building, Port of Spain.

Griffith, becomes the country’s 12th Commissioner of Police, after Canadian Dwayne Gibbs, who served from 2010-2012.

Stephen Williams, whose substantive rank is that of Deputy Commissioner of Police, acted in the position from August 7th 2012, to August 16th, 2018.

After taking the Oath, the new Commissioner was introduced to members of the Police Executive, and was welcomed.

Earlier, Commissioner Griffith attended a meeting of the Heads of National Security, chaired by Minister of National Security, Stuart Young, at the Courtyard, 1st Floor, Ministry of National Security, Abercromby Street, Port of Spain.
