Gun, ammunition, drugs found in anti-crime exercises

A gun and quantities of ammunition and drugs have been found, during anti-crime exercises in the Laventille and Port of Spain areas, a police statement said.

Officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force, along with officers of the Besson Street, CID and Canine Unit, conducted the exercises, between 6 am and 9:45 am, on Friday 21st April, 2017, at Mulrain Trace, Laventille.

A search of several abandoned lots in the area was conducted, resulting in the discovery of one Beretta pistol, along with a quantity of .9mm ammunition.

The same party of officers, also found 57 grammes of marijuana, while conducting searches of several abandoned lots and bushy areas, at the Nelson and George Street Planning, Port of Spain. No arrests were made in connection with the finds.
