The headless body retrieved from a plastic barrel along the Mitan river; Manzanilla has been positively identified as that of 26-year-old Eden Nekeisha Teesdale of Embarcadere, San Fernando.

The identification was made possible through fingerprints obtained when the victim had applied for a certificate of character in 2012. According to a release from the Trinidad and Tobago police service, Ms. Teesdale had been employed as a cleaner at the Mt. Hope Hospital.

On Tuesday, Manzanilla police were alerted to the discovery of the dismembered body by a fisherman who reported to have observed what appeared to be a foot protruding from a barrel.

Police and Coast Guard personnel are still searching for the head of the victim.

Homicide detectives are continuing with the investigation.
