Homeless woman charged with damaging vehicle in bottle-pelting incident

A socially displaced woman is due to appear before the Siparia Magistrates’ Court today, after she was charged for maliciously damaging the vehicle of 49-year-old woman.

Shelly-Ann Mohammed, 34, of no fixed place of abode, was also charged with using obscene language by officers of the Penal Police Station on Monday, following an incident which took place around 9:15 am on the said date.

During the incident, Mohammed is accused of causing damage to the victim’s gold Ford Ranger motor vehicle by pelting glass bottles.

The victim was parked along the S.S. Erin Road, Penal, when she was allegedly approached by Mohammed who began cursing at her.

An argument ensued, during which the vehicular damage is alleged to have occurred.

The damage has an estimated value of TT$2,300.

Charges were laid by PC Nanan, of the Penal Criminal Investigations Department.
