Kidnap victims released; KFC paid as ransom

Moru­ga cousins, Ken­rick Mor­gan and Kendall Singh who were kid­napped at sea a month ago and tak­en to Venezuela are back in Trinidad.

A ran­som of US$12,000 and a buck­et of Ken­tucky Fried Chick­en was paid for their re­lease, fam­i­ly mem­bers said.

Mor­gan, 17, a stu­dent of the Moru­ga Sec­ondary School is ward­ed at the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal where he is re­ceiv­ing treat­ment for de­hy­dra­tion and trau­ma.

Speak­ing at their Gran Chemin home on Wednes­day, Mor­gan's moth­er Lin­da Boodoo said her broth­er Reynold Ramkhelawan and a friend left Erin on Wednes­day to pick up Mor­gan at a Venezue­lan riv­er mouth.

Singh's fam­i­ly left through Moru­ga and re­trieved him. When Guardian Me­dia vis­it­ed Singh was not at his home in Basse Terre Vil­lage.
