Jaro Olyia a 24-year-old labourer of Phase 6, La Horquetta is expected to appear before the Arima Magistrates Court today charged with the murder of 33-year-old Juma McKell.
He is also charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition.
According to police reports the victim, also of La Horquetta, was walking along Ray Apollon Drive, Phase 4, La Horquetta when he was approached by a lone gunman who shot him several times about the body.
Mr McKell was taken to the Arima Health Facility where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Subsequent investigations led to Olyia’s arrest by officers attached to the La Horquetta Police Station, on October 16th.
He was charged following advice received from the Director of Public Prosecution Roger Gaspard, SC on October 21st.
Investigations were supervised by ASP (Ag.) Sean Dhilpaul and Sgt. Hezron Lynch, while PC Kevin Andrews, all of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region 2, laid the charges.
