Man asks his boss for cutlass to cut coconut, then attacks him with it

An 18-year-old man has been detained by police after attacking his employer with a cutlass, over the weekend.

On Sunday 3rd March at 5:30pm, the 52-year-old victim was at his business place at O’Meara Industrial Estate, Malabar, when one of his employees asked him for a cutlass to cut open a coconut.

Upon handing him the cutlass, the suspect immediately dealt the victim a chop to his left shoulder.

The victim became fearful and sought refuge at the nearby business place and contacted Emergency Health Services.

A report was subsequently made to police and resulted in the suspect’s arrest on Monday in the D’Abadie area.

Enquiries are continuing.
