Man chased and murdered in St Margaret's

Police are investigating the murder of a man in St Margarets around 2pm today and they believe he was shot dead by a high-powered weapon, based on the ammunition they found.

The dead man has been identified as 23-year-old Kerwin "Jabber" Ransome of Lodge Road, St Margarets Village.

Police have not yet established a motive for the killing.

Eyewitnesses say the man was chased by two men who opened fire on him.

The shootings took place in the full view of many people.

Police have recovered the vehicle used in the murder, a Nissan B13 with the license plate PBG 9736.

The vehicle was found at Cedar Hill in Claxton Bay with 5.56 mm spent shells in it.

Police suspect the vehicle was stolen to be used in the shooting.

There are dozens of weapons that use 5.56 mm ammunition, including the Galil, AR-15 and M-16 firearms.
