Man held with cocaine at Maracas Bay home

One man was arrested and a revolver and a quantity of illegal drugs were discovered, by officers of the Maracas Bay Police Station, during an anti-crime exercise in the area, over the weekend, a police statement said.

The exercise, which was spearheaded by ASP Michael Sooker and included members of the Coastal Patrol Unit, was conducted between 10:00am and 5:00pm, on Saturday 11th November, 2017.

The officers first executed a search warrant at the Old Bay Road, Maracas Bay, home of a 26-year-old man.

There, they discovered 20 grammes of cocaine concealed inside a shoe in his bedroom.

The man who was in the house at the time of the search, was arrested in connection with the find.

Officers then proceeded to an abandoned house in the area, where three packages, containing 1.3 kilogrammes of marijuana were discovered, along with one revolver and one round of .38mm ammunition.

The drug has an estimated street value of $13,000.

No arrest was made in connection with the discoveries.
